Method of Manufacturing Concertina Razor Tape
The commonly used method of manufacturing razor tape by cold stamping is not without its drawbacks. The main one is that only one strip of razor tape is manufactured in one pass of the stamp. This generates a significant amount of waste. As a result, irrational use of press capacity leads to an increase in the cost of the produced razor tape and, as a consequence, the razor wire that is made from it also becomes more expensive.
The method of manufacturing razor tape proposed by Yu.V. Tkachenko (Ukrainian patent for invention No. 95130 "Method and stamp for manufacturing barbed tape" class B21F 25/00 - Manufacturing barbed wire https://security-patents.com/en). The invention pertains to hardware production, or more precisely to the production and technologies of razor tape manufacturing and allows to eliminate this drawback.
The essence of the production method is to manufacture not one, but several strips of razor tape in one die stroke. The power of the presses used in the production of razor tape allows such a load. The press stamp punches oval holes in galvanized steel tape and makes cuts, which form finished strips of razor tape. However, punching holes simultaneously with the cuts leads to deformation of the steel tape, and therefore the manufactured strips of barbed tape. In addition, during deformation, the anti-corrosion coating of the razor tape is damaged, which unacceptable for the production of high-quality razor wire.
To solve this problem, Yu. V. Tkachenko proposed a unique design of a stamp for the production of razor tape, which eliminates all the above-described production defects and at the same time reduces the cost of manufacturing the stamp itself, which has a positive effect on the cost of barbed tape and, accordingly, the finished Concertina razor wire.
